I bought this rod as part of a steelhead outfit for my wife. She's a first-timer who doesn't weather the cold as much as I do, so I didn't want to break the bank. Putting this up against my rod and that of my friends, this thing really shouldn't be as inexpensive as it is. When paired with a good line, it casts and feels just as good as any rod twice its price. If you're looking for a backup or need an inexpensive 8wt, I'd start here.
