This practice fly rod is surprisingly good at helping me to tune up my casting strokes. It is very easy to pull out this tool and start practicing when I have a few minutes of spare time. I don't have to assemble one of my larger rods, install a fly line, leader and yarn to get some practice time. Of course I still need to practice with my long rods, but this tool has the feel of a real rod loaded with real fly line. If you want to use it indoors, be careful to do so in a location with a high ceiling and no breakables nearby.
