I was on a short business trip to VA and used a local guide for a half day of smallmouth bass fishing on a small tributary for the Shenandoah. The fish were 2-3lbs. This rod was surprisingly accurate and the recovery on it is its best attribute. The local guide only uses these rods which surprised me at first but after 5 hours of action I could understand. This is better than a back up rod. This is a starter!
