NEW! RIO ELITE PERCEPTION FLY LINE (WF3 - WF8)
The Elite RIO Perception is an easy casting, general purpose fly line that casts nymphs, dry flies, streamers and soft hackles with ease. The short head makes this a particularly good line on smaller rivers and lakes when long distance line control is not necessary. This line is built with RIO's low-stretch ConnectCore Plus, resulting in exceptionally smooth, durable fly lines, with the added benefits of incredible levels of sensitivity when casting and fishing, and providing enhanced detection of takes, faster hook sets, and far greater control when playing a fish. In addition, this line is built with SlickCast, RIO's proprietary coating technology, creating the slickest, most durable fly lines on the market. Lab tests show that lines built with SlickCast have the least amount of friction ever measured in a fly line.

By far the smoothest casting line I have ever used! Worth spending the extra money.

I own Intouch grand, elite grand and perception.
I like the reduced stretch and smoothness in the line.
Perception works well for short casts while I prefer Grand for casting larger flies. I would recommend the Elite line

Fished with this line a few times and each times landed a very nice rainbow each time. Line cast really well, smooth and nicely balanced. Recommend!

line holds up well to abrasion and nicks . Floats well and punches through the air . Hard to beat

Rio In Touch Perception Elite has different characteristics than last year’s In Touch Perception. While the head length is the same, the Elite version features ConnectCore Plus and SlickCast. Because I currently own last year’s version, which I fish regularly in both 5wt and 6wt versions, I’m familiar with how these changes feel when casting.
I’ve cast both lines on two different rods (8’6” 5wt Hardy Demon and 9’ 5wt Hardy Demon Smuggler). Using two different rods brought out the differences between the lines. The 8’6” Hardy prefers the lighter and more supple feel of In Touch Perception, while the Demon Smuggler prefers the added weight of Elite. Even though the lines have the same advertised grain weight, Elite feels a tiny bit thicker, and somewhat heavier on the 8’6” Hardy than In Touch Perception. With Elite, the rod feels almost overlined. I found this interesting as the tip on the Demon is faster and should load a little better with a slightly heavier line.
On the 9’ Smuggler, Elite is pretty close to perfect. What I’m perceiving as added weight loads the softer tip better and with SlickCast the line jumps off the rod, easily adding 10+ feet to a cast. On the Smuggler, Circle-C and roll casts work well, and the tri-color line makes this very easy. Not only does the line cast well, it appears to hit the water gently. On the Smuggler, where I fish slightly bigger water the extra distance is a plus.
I bring up the differences for the angler that is upgrading/replacing last year’s In Touch Perception and fishing smaller streams, because Elite just feels different when compared to In Touch Perception.
