RIO PREMIER LIGHTLINE FLY LINE
The redesigned RIO Premier Lightline. RIO’s LightLine has been designed to load slower, more traditional action fly rods such as bamboo, glass and the more “Classic” flexing graphite rods. Built to precisely match the industry line standards, this line will not overload such rods – even at longer range. The weight distribution and short front taper ensures the line loads at close range, making it ideal for fishing on smaller creeks and streams, while the softer, supple coating ensures the line remains relaxed and easy to handle in the majority of conditions. In addition the line is built with SlickCast—the slickest, most durable coating on the market.

I am giving this 5 stars because I don’t think the problem is with the line but with my ability. I bought this for a 6’6”2wt glass rod but I could not make the line perform well. I replaced it with the RIO Creek line and it performed much better. Maybe it was the rod, but I’m gonna say if your casting ability is mediocre, like mine, then perhaps this line is not for.

I stumbled across a rod builder offering custom 8' 1wt blanks a while back. While more 1wt rods seem to cast better with a 2wt line, the builder was insistent that this rod would be overpowered by anything more than a true 1wt line. Taking his word, I reviewed my options and settled on the Rio Lightline 1wt (DT).
I couldn't be happier with the outcome. I can delicately place small dry flies 40+ ft with this line, while still remaining accurate at distances under 20 ft. It is an amazing pair for this rod, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking to pair a line with a true 1wt.

Tired of hitting water hard and scare off fish? This is a product that can help. Some concern about long casting with this product, but I did not find it a problem. For distance casting, a long fly line needs to be casted anyway. It gives enough loading on a rod. Of course, Rio carries the best name for its top quality fly lines. This is not an exception.

I bought this line to use with a cheap Cabela's CGR 6'2" 2wt glass rod, paired with an old G. Loomis Adventure 3 with 75yds of backing. The line is supposed to be made specifically for the slower glass rods and tight casting and I almost went with the RIO Premier Creek instead, but the guys here recommended the Lightline for me. I took it out for the first time today. Fishing a small local creek about 6" to 18" deep and 12' wide at most, tree's overhead and behind. After a few practice casts, I was pinpoint casting and no problems with all the surrounding cover. The head on this thing is a marvelous shooter at short distance. Altough I paid more for the line than the rod or the old reel, it was money well spent and I'd do it again.
