Upon opening the rod and putting my reel on it went into the back yard to make a few cast. Which was effortless to cast 60’ with just the line and leader. On the 3rd back cast the second section from the tip snapped. Disappointed at first. Called customer service and WOW. They have a new one in the mail that day with a return for the broken one. Now that’s the way you do things right. So this review is more about customer service than the rod. Thanks

I purchased my Orvis Recon on sale, (last years model) for a great price. Excellent quality, The Recon came highly recommended at this price point and I am not disapointed with my purchase. The Recon works great for the type of fishing I do. I usually fish Chironomids with a strike indicator in the still waters of Washington State. The 3 wt is a little lighter than I usually use but lots of fun.

For years I have fished chiromids with a 10 ft 5 wt rod in still waters.
I wanted to try a lighter weight rod and the staff at REELFLYROD suggested the Orvis Clearwater. I purchased one and recently had the chance to fish it. What a blast! the lighter weight works great on all but the windiest days. Thanks Guys
