These are great for what they are. The clutch bearing is a weak point (they rust fairly easily, although they are easy to clean up) and after a couple of years of hard use the spindle will have enough play in it that the spool will start to rub and line may slip between the frame and spool. However, they are exactly what I need - an inexpensive reel that will be good enough, for long enough, and can be dropped or knocked on rocks without feeling bad. Perfect for small or medium fish where the reel is mostly just for line storage. Could I go with a click-and-pawl? Maybe, but I like quiet reels (you can even take out the drag clicker fairly easily) and all of my rods need the extra weight to balance well anyways.

The reel is ok for the money. When I took a photo of a fish I submerged it into the river. The ball bearing in the interior became completely rusty. Kudos to Orvis for quickly replacing it for free.

This is a well designed reel. It will stop fish with plenty of drag. Click sounds good. Feels nice in hand. Powder coating is trash.

I have use this reel several times and have not had any issues with it. It offers great value for the money. All the reel the average fly fisherman needs.

Good Affordable Reel, I will say I was more impressed with others if you are willing to spend the extra $100, however its been a great reel so far. Don't think you can really go wrong with it - I did change out the line to SA

I just bought this reel and fished it once. I have a good impression so far: smooth drag, nice finish good looking. Albeit, I think the Lamson Liquid is a better choice since it is quite a bit lighter

I have had this reel for 2 years and it’s been reliable. I like the drag adjustment and the overall light weight of the reel.
