The reel is ok for the money. When I took a photo of a fish I submerged it into the river. The ball bearing in the interior became completely rusty. Kudos to Orvis for quickly replacing it for free

I bought this about a year ago and it was a great purchase. It’s my second Orvis reel, the first one has been great and still going for over 15 years, but this on is even better.

This reel is probably all that is realistically needed for 99% of freshwater applications. Even larger great lakes "Steelhead" or upper Midwest Lake Trout can be handled with ease on these reels. Orvis stands by their stuff too. You'll get bored of it before you absolutely need something higher end.

My second one. Can't beat the price. So far the reel has prevailed against sockeye salmon in the strong currents of the lower Kenai River. Drag is smooth.

Picked this up as a Christmas present and as usual with Orvis products it is excellent. Probably the best reel for the dollar in my opinion. Come loaded with Clearwater line and backing. Nice smooth drag and has lots of stopping power.
