This is just what I needed to keep my wading staff close at hand and out of the way. Very strong and the retraction mechanism works well.

I bought this to keep my wading staff close at hand as opposed to letting it float by the leash that it comes with 3 feet from you in the water. This Orvis retractor does a great job. The tension is just right, requiring a slight pull but still enough tension to keep your wading staff close to you while wading. Appears very well made and should last a while.

This works well with the collapsible poleI use when wading in high water. I use the hook clip and shorten the loop a bit to it keeps the pole at a comfortable distance.

I bought this to use occasionally when the water is high on our local rivers. I will keep a Black Diamond telescopic trekking pole in my wading belt in case I find myself in a situation that I may need it, knowing that if I need to drop the pole, the Orvis Staff Tether is there to keep it by my side. It has worked very well with the recent strong flow that we have had in our rivers.
