ORVIS HYDROS III FLY REEL : 5-7WT
The re-designed Hydros Fly Reel features a lightweight bar-stock aluminum machined frame and spool, fully sealed drag, and best-in-class line pickup per revolution, buttery-smooth startup inertia and a narrower spool that reduces line stacking. The Hydros reel incorporates an improved seal carbon and stainless drag along with a reduction in weight balance for lighter fly rods. From Freshwater to the Saltwater Flats, the New Orvis Hydros III will match any fishing application and have the stopping power for the larger species in freshwaters. The newly upgraded sealed drag gives the angler a smoother and more powerful reel for protecting light tippet against larger trout and smallmouth.

For a mid priced reel, I do not regret my purchase. Available in cool machined colors, it definitely can be stylish. Handled carp in freshwater at home and also sizzled in the salt with bones.

I took the leap and upgraded to this reel. Out of the box I knew I made the right choice. This is a nice looking reel. The build quality is impressive. Setting the drag is straightforward and easy to do. Loaded a 5wt line on it and am ready to hit the river.

After hours of research, YouTube videos and trips to fly shops I made the purchase. Very good construction and smooth sealed drag. I bought for a multipurpose reel
and added a spool. Used with 4wt Orvis nymph line and 5wt Rio. Top performer for the money. The value helped get the spool and second line. I had a quwstion after the shipment and was pleasantly surprised to not only get an email back
In a few hours but a phone call with a real person. Highly recommended.

I was originally going to go with the Clearwater but am glad I went with the step up. The reel has already survived being accidentally dropped on the bank once and being pulled in and out of the rod holders on my buddy's boat. The action on the reel is super smooth, and the drag is simple and straightforward. Would definitely recommend for a high quality reel that won't break the bank.

I have 3 hydros SL's (3, 4, and 5) and I love them. Recently got this reel in the 4 size as a gift and it is better than the old SL's. would 100% recommend for bigger trout, striper/bluefish/ bass and pike fishing. It has an incredibly smooth and strong drag, and is honestly better than the mirage LT.
