When I got this reel is was not smooth and it was a bit noisy but once I put a small amount of grease where the anti-freespool pin is the reel was smooth and quiet. The zero start-up inertia on the drag is great and the drag is super powerful. It balances a 8wt 10ft TFO BVK rod with a heavy streamer line really well.
