I always thought magnetic net holders were a gimmick. The design just seemed overly complicated and unreliable. However, after trying this out for several months, I'm sold.
Specifically, my worry was that returning the net behind my back was going to be difficult. However, the magnets are *very* strong. If you get the two pieces anywhere near each other, they snap together on their own and align perfectly 100% of the time. While you still need a leash of the other end so your net doesn't ends up downriver or in the bushes, carrying a larger net between your shoulder blades is so much better than carrying as smaller net on your waist, I am kicking myself for not switching sooner.

Great product that holds my Fishpond net without issue. Doesn't come loose when walking or hiking but easily detaches when you need it!

Really wanted the Fishpond magnetic net release system but it was out of stuck. I was actually really happy to get this orvis one because it actually has a really net and convenient design.
