Very sensitive indicator system that is easy to use. Way more gently landing than typical thingamabobbers.

Nice idea for spooky trout. Is a little more tricky given that you control how much wool is used. I am wondering how actual NZ fishers use their versions.

While the idea of this indicator really intrigued me i have yet to completely get a handle on it. Seems the amount of wool used makes a huge difference on whether it floats or not. I also have issues with the indicator moving on the leader despite how firmly I attach it. I am not giving up yet however and will experiment more next season. I do think it is a great idea.

I like the idea behind these indicators. Plus there can be reused. They are pretty expensive for what you get

An fellow fly fisherman let me try these out in Gatlinburg. I only use these strike indicators now. Perfect for most of my situations where I need an indicator. The white can be tricky for me to see in turbulent waters. Definitely the easiest indicator to adjust and readjust depth with. Give them a shot!

Very easy to adjust on the line and provides a soft landing when it touches the water.

These strike indicators are overpriced but they land so softly and stays high on the water.

This indicator style works nicely and lands very softly. It can be easily made for less than a dollar by yourself.

I hate strike indicators. I've tried so many different kinds. The Air-Locks stay in place and float high, but they cast like a ton of bricks. The o-ring style yarn indicators cast well and land like a feather, but they don't stay in place. I've tried so many different types of indicators and they all come with downsides that I just couldn't work past, so I just left them off altogether and tight-lined it. That was until I tried this system.
I ordered the New Zealand Strike Indicators Kit after watching a video online about how they attach to a leader. I thought it looked simple enough, so I gave it a shot. Boy am I glad I did. They solve all of the problems I had with every other indicator style I've tried. They stay put, they cast very well to the point you don't even notice them, they land softly on the water, they float high and they don't kink your leaders or add sticky residue to them like other systems do. Plus, they are extremely easy to put on.
I'm pumped that I tried this system as it got me back to using strike indicators again which really does help with nymphing. If you're where I was and you've given up on strike indicators, give this system a try before you fully call it quits. I'm willing to bet it will win you over.
