ORVIS PRO WADING BOOT, WITH MICHELIN SOLE
In an industry-first collaborative effort with Michelin, Orvis introduces the PRO Wading Boot. Built on an outsole compound specifically designed for fly fishing, this revolutionary new sole design is an industry disrupting advance in wet rubber traction. The Michelin Outdoor Extreme outsole offers 25% better abrasion resistance and a resounding 43% improvement in wet rubber traction. Using Michelin tire geometry, it offers a wider footprint for stability, a higher ratio of surface contact, and a lug pattern that reduces shock and improves pressure distribution. The two-layer midsole has a co-molded ESS plate that provides improved stud retention and torsional stability. The shock absorbing Phylon midsole improves “river feel” and compresses less than standard EVA midsoles.
Orvis partnered with Ortholite to create a 3D molded X25 insole designed for high-impact sports, delivering maximum comfort and arch support. An industry first cast PU upper eliminates seams while providing a zoned cage for added stability, grip, and extreme abrasion resistance without the added bulk. The boot is higher cut for ankle support and lined with closed-cell foam. Scratch rubber at the toe cap and heel for abrasion resistance, an oversized heel pull for easier on-and-off, and tightly woven laces reduce broken laces.

This was an upgrade to my first ever pair of wading boots, a cheap pair of Simms. These are comfortable, provide ample support and lots of grip. Very happy with the purchase.

I normally wear a size 13 shoe so I purchased a size 14. These fit comfortably allowing to wear relatively heavy socks and stocking foot waders without being too tight.

Great for long hikes to find a place to get in the water. These are my first boots beside work boots. Very comfortable.

The Orvis Pro Wading Boots are some of the best wading boots aviaible on the market. I used them in a wide variety of environments, from wading small, mountain streams to large warm-water rivers. To reach one fishing location, I walked nearly four miles, and never felt these boots were any different than my regular hiking boots. I rarely felt these boots could not grip the streambed effectively, and the addition of metal treads can further increase these boots tractive force. These boots are also tall, protecting the ankle from unexpected rocks that might otherwise twist or cut your ankle. In short, these boots provided me with the utmost in comfort, traction, and safety in every scenario I tested them in.

Very solid boot. Seem pretty durable. Grip, though not revolutionary, is as good as any other rubber sole. My previous boots were orvis ultralites and these still feel pretty light on foot.

These are a huge upgrade from my starter boots. They are very light and the grip is impressive. They did rub my ankles a bit, but I think thinker socks will fix this issue for me.

These boots were a huge upgrade and well worth the cost. I hiked 1.5 miles in 90 degree heat to wet wade with neoprene wading socks over Sims we wading socks. With this setup they fit perfectly. I wear EU size 45 (US size 11.5-12). size 13 was suggested On the link to the Orvis site and it was spot on. The boots are lightweight and feel like you are wearing hiking rather than wading boots. They performed well hiking up grades with rocks and superbly on wet rocks in the stream and near the shore. I haven’t yet installed the cleats but so far have not seen a reason to as they were sticky even without them. If I would go to faster moving water with larger boulders, I may install the cleats. Very satisfied with this purchase.

These boots are amazing! The most comfortable pair of wading boots I’ve ever owned. These boots have amazing grip on slick rocks and are comfortable enough to allow hours upon hours of wading without blisters or discomfort. A great investment for anyone looking to buy a new set of boots. As with many wading boots, purchasing a size larger than you typically wear is necessary.

First week in the water and I am very satisfied. Nice and light on approach and plenty of traction in the river. Not many big slick boulders in northern Michigan but rocks and down trees/branches are a breeze.

These boots have been great so far for Erie Trib. steelhead wading. I installed 30 kold kutter studs in each sole. Performance has been better than I expected. Zero stud losses and solid traction on slippery shale.
