I was looking for heavier weight rod for ponds, lakes, and the large river near me for using on smallies and large mouth. I have it paired with SA Bass Bug and all I can say is it does what I wanted it to do. Turns over poppers and large streamers and handles the wind very well. This was my first fast action rod and I had no issues with casting it. Once you get a little line out the rod does the work for you.

I love this rod. Its my go-to rod for spawning trout in the rivers entering Lake Taupo in the winter time. For this fishing I use two large weighted flies and a weight forward 7 weight line. The rod delivers smoothly and powerfully and has plenty of grunt to bring in hard fighting five pound rainbows. I have more expensive rods but this is the one I enjoy using most of all.

This rod is so light it feels like a 5wt. Handles a heavy bass line well. I use it for bass in the midwest and I can send the largest Boogle Bugs across a pond with ease. I love it.
