This vest is much lighter than my old vest, not nearly as bulky but plenty of pockets for storage and is very comfortable to wear. I am very happy with the quality of the vest but on my wish list would be a loop for attaching gear coming out of the bottom of each top pocket. All and all you can’t go wrong by spending you money on this vest!

Arrived next day! The product has a clean look and wears cool and fits comfortably. After years of using a sling, I switched to this vest. It is a good fit and I count myself as a satisfied customer.

I really like that this vest has fewer pockets and less over all weight. I have some neck issues and was wanting to decrease overall weight carried on my shoulders. This vest does that. It has forced me to carry only those things that I actually use and nothing extra. I like the covered retractor ports for your nippers and forceps underneath the drying patches. The zippers on the vertical pockets open and close easily. The vest is fairly trim cut and things are held close to your body. The only concern that I have is that I tend to leave pockets open. Within the first five minutes of fishing, a 7 1/4 inch long fly box fell out of the pocket and I didn't realize it for about 10 minutes. Fortunately, I retraced my steps and found it at the edge of the river. However, I otherwise like the vest so well that I have obtained shorter medium-sized thin fly boxes and am placing them horizontally in the vertical pockets and I think they will be less likely to fall out should I forget to zip up the pockets.

Purchased for my son and we are both learning to fly fish and figure out what "system" (vests vs. hip packs vs. sling packs) we prefer to use. He wanted a light weigh vest with a ton of pockets and a place for his net. This Orvis vest is well made, very functional and he loves it...plus I couldn't beat the sale price on ReelFlyRod!

I do a fair amount of cold water and warm water fly fishing, and after a couple of trips where I forget to add/remove the applicable gear I decided it was time to have a dedicated cold water pack/vest. I have a sling pack that is now dedicated to warm water fishing that I really love but since I take a net with me for cold water, I wanted a setup that would be able to attach to a net zinger/retrieval device. I looked at chest packs and multiple vests and by far the most comfortable, while being practical, was the Orvis Ultralight.

As I look a various vests, I wanted to find something that was light-weight yet had the versatility to carry what I needed. I used the Orvis Ultralight yesterday for the first time and it met all of my needs. While it was a sunny, hot day, the vest was light enough to be comfortable. I was able to carry all I wanted, even a water bottle in one of the front pockets. I didn't think about the vest all day on the water which is the best of signs. A great buy.

My sling/hippack/vest search has finally ended. Over the last few years I have tried sling packs from Orvis and Simms, A vest and backpack from Simms, a vest/pack from Umpqua, and a hip pack from Patagonia. They all fell short or had one or more major things that irritated me on the water and made fishing difficult. Whether is was too much clutter, not enough storage space, nowhere to hold my net or full submersion of the hip pack with my short legs and deep wadding, they always fell short. This vest is the best piece of equipment I own and I would not change a thing. The vest is super light like the name suggests and fits a ton of gear. I hold 4 large tacky boxes plus one small tacky midge box, a streamer box and all the other essentials, leaders, tippet, indicators, nippers, hemos, net, lunch, ect. and the weight is distributed evenly with no aches or pains. It really takes your mind away from what you're carrying and lets you focus on the fishing.
