Casts well for a 6 piece rod

When they announced this rod I was excited to try it out. Ive been taking my Sage X whenever I needed a 5 wt in the back country. I use a light bulb tube to carry the rod but it extends past the top of my back. Combine a fairly expensive rod and the potential to snag on overhanging branches makes me nervous. This rod is basically 6 20 inch segments. So it’s short enough to be protected by the tip of my bag. It also comes in a price point where I won’t cry if I slip and break it. (Prob still sad though). The one downside of this rod is it doesn’t come with a rod sock. The tube isn’t heavy but if you’re trying to save weight, I think it’s safe enough to carry in a sock. (Etsy). The rod itself is actually heavier than my X. I think it’s due to the extent connector sections. But it’s still a relatively light rod. I used it in 20+ mph wind and it powered through fine. It also has a pretty easy action to cast. Overall I’m happy with it, after getting an after market sock, and will use this on my lake backpacking trips.
