Since I own other Ross Evo reels, I found the 5/6 to be a bit heavy. However, the reel is sturdy and solid. Make sure you check the weight and confirm this will balance your rod. If the weight is right for you, then this is an awesome reel.

The spool release cap has no grip to it and is difficult to remove the spool. The reel foot will not work on a Winston reel seat.

Very smooth, the drag is outstanding, and the knob makes adjustments easy while playing a fish. It's a little difficult to figure out how to line up the spool for reassembly.

I purchased this reel for my 9' 6wt rod and it balances it perfectly. The fit and finish is outstanding. The machining is very well done. There is no play or wobble between the spool and the frame The drag wheel has subtle, but noticeable detents marking each small rotation when adjusting the drag. The click sound is pleasant, but more quiet compared to the Evolution LTX. I weighed the reel without line or backing and it weighed 5.1oz. Completely rigged up with 100 yards of 20lb backing and a 90' 6wt fly line the total is 6.3 oz. The drag is very smooth, and when turned up to maximum quite powerful. Adjustments in drag are small with each detent of wheel rotation, allowing you to fine tune the exact amount of drag that you want. I wish Ross would offer the reel in more color options besides flat black and platinum on a regular basis besides their limited edition offerings, but that has nothing to do with the function or purpose of this reel. Overall I highly recommend it.
