SAGE R8 CORE 597-4 FLY ROD : 5WT 9'6"
The Sage R8 Core 5wt 9'6" Fly Rod is the perfect all-around trout rod for rivers and lakes. The Sage R8 Rod 5wt 9'6" is a little longer for great mending and roll casting control, or for the angler looking to get a little more distance and load on the rod on longer casts. Many anglers are using 9'6" 5wt's for streamer fishing from boats. This rod has the fighting butt handle for added leverage.
The R8 Core features a new pattern of woven carbon fiber that allowed Sage to impart more of their proprietary resin into the blank. The result of this new pattern means that the rod is stronger farther up the blank than competitors. The combination of the new carbon fiber pattern and more resin makes the rod incredibly light in hand while not sacrificing any strength in the top 1/3rd of the rod. The new Revolution 8 Technology makes the R8 one of the most technologically advanced rods on the market. The R8 is finished with a dark olive blank, grey primary guide wraps with a handsome gradient grey-to-white tipping.

Finally had a chance to get this R8 rod on some local waters. Wanted to get a rod with a little more length to help with mending and high sticking. This 9.5ft rod performed really well for this. But it also has been perfect for casting dries! I found it accurate and casted some size 18 BWO's perfectly. Hooked up some nice 16inch Rainbows with this rod and it performed flawlessly. Good job Sage!
