I have fished the SA Mastery Series Standard Fly Line on many of my fly rods. It never fails me and continues to last and last. This time it was for my 6wt. Orvis Recon. It is a standard weight line which I greatly prefer because If I want the rod to load more for longer casts I can just have a little more line in the air. For the short casts it works well also because the head length is only 10'. I am always happy with this line.

I tried this line on several different 5-weight rods and it cast well with all of them. In particular the more moderate action rods throw very nice loops with this line. It does have a slight "screaming" noise when passing through the guides, which is more like the textured lines, and therefore It does not seem as smooth as other Mastery series lines I compared it to (expert distance, infinity, MPX). However, this did not affect casting distance or performance. I also noticed the diameter was a little larger than some of my older 5-weight lines of this brand. As far as weight, It did not feel any different than my other Scientific Anglers 5-weight lines. It would be nice to get this line in a more stealthy color, like camo or the dark willow color they used to have in some of the other lines. Otherwise, an excellent performer overall.
