Quite thin. I use a doubled loop to avoid cutting the line. Looses color.

This is by far my favorite backing for big game saltwater fishing. It's strong as s%$t and you can pack a lot on a spool.

Why would anyone who targets big game fish like Salmon or Steelhead not opt for more backing with less occupancy of your reel. This to me is like a nice insurance policy. When I see the fish run far...I just let it go knowing I am not going to get spooled. I wouldnt setup a fly rig for big game without it.

Purchased the 50lb GS to eat up a little of the capacity on a large arbor reel. Liked the larger size to capacity ratio. Color leached a bit, I hope I get to wash it all out.

The backing is quite thin and the price is ok. It tends to loose its color quickly. Still a good way to use a smaller more balanced reel on lightweight rods.
