I purchased this for my son as he was taking a fly fishing course at college. He really liked it and said a lot of the other students in the class asked where he got it. As he is just learning it was hard for him to give an opinion but I could tell he liked it and was making it easy for him to learn. I was personally have not been able to give it a try. It appears for be a great gift for a new fly fisherman.

This was my first ever fly rod and It has always had a very special place in my heart, I have caught many good fish on this rod and it can handle anything from a baby smallie in a stream to a 40 pound carp! I highly recommend

This setup made it extremely easy to learn how to cast. It balances extremely well, the reel is surprisingly smooth, the rod is powerful for a 5wt. and the line does very well. Straight out of the box this is a surprisingly nice setup.
