The recent rains stopped the good bite this past week. The rivers are dropping and the clarity should be in great shape for the weekend and next week. The Mad River and the Twin Creek will be the first fishable streams. Try to target crawfish in the morning and afternoon, while baitfish in the later afternoon/evening. Best flies for us right now are the meat whistles, murdich minnow, and gurglers in white and olive. Black has been a great morning color if you are fishing under the surface. Target vegetation, rip rap and deeper holes. Small low dams are a perfect target on these streams.
The Great Miami in the northern section ( Sidney - Tipp City) should fish very well this weekend. Tailouts of the riffles and structure are keys for success in the north. Around the city, the water is still up and off color and will take a little longer to clear. Many anglers however are using poppers in the evening time to target fish along the banks. Vegetation is one of the best go to spots along the bank. Sliders have been the best for our pro-staff. The surface bit starts to heat up around 5 o'clock and definitely goes till dark.
Stop by the fly shop, we are stocked with smallmouth flies. We will be open 8-2pm on Saturday. Have a great weekend.
